 Meet Dr. Cabrera 

Dr. Anthony Cabrera earned his medical degree at Memorial University followed by specialization in Ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario. His postdoctoral fellowship training was in Cornea and Ocular pathology at McGill University

 

Dr. Anthony Cabrera practiced in New Brunswick for four years after completing his postgraduate training. There, his surgical experience was refined in a wide variety of eye surgeries including cataract surgery, corneal surgery, eye muscle surgery, tear duct surgery, CO2 laser surgery of the eyelids, and laser surgery of the retina. 

 

In the area of refractive surgery, Dr. Cabrera is trained and certified in the use of the excimer laser and refractive surgery techniques (i.e. LASIK and PRK). He has been a corneal consultant for laser vision correction centers in the past and has had extensive experience on various excimer laser platforms including VISX, Bausch & Lomb Technolas and the Allegretto WAVE Eye-Q laser. 

 

Currently, he performs customized tissue sparing treatments with the Allegretto WAVE Eye-Q laser widely considered the best laser technology platform available. Dr. Cabrera earned certifications in presbyopia reversal surgery in 1998 as well as multi-focal implants for presbyopia in 2006. He has performed over 10,000 refractive procedures. 

 

Dr. Cabrera is a certified Ophthalmologist in Canada and Québec. In 1996 he obtained specialist certification in the United States and became a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. His professional memberships include Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. 

 

In the past, Dr. Cabrera has provided seminars to physicians and volunteered his surgical and teaching skills to eye surgery missions abroad. He performed ophthalmic surgery, teaches surgical techniques, and has assisted in establishing eye clinics in developing countries. Under Dr Cabrera's medical directorship the inspected surgical facility in Burlington where he performed his surgeries earned an accreditation from the Ontario Out of Hospital Inspection Program (OHPIP) in December 2012. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French. (updated Sept 13-2017)
